Diabetes Survey Results
The Northern Michigan Diabetes Initiative (NMDI) is a collaborative community based effort to reduce the incidence of diabetes and improve the care of people already diagnosed with diabetes. In late 2007, a telephone interview survey was conducted targeting the general adult population of the 11 county primary service area of the seven affiliated hospitals within the Munson Healthcare System. The purpose of the survey was to learn more about the prevalence of diabetes and risk factors, as well to identify gaps in diabetes care and public knowledge in order to guide and inform project efforts. The survey was also designed to provide baseline population data against which future progress could be measured.
